Moms grocer. His store can give American farmers markets a run for their money. He is an artist in my eyes. He arranges everything beautifully. And is particular about the neighbors each vegetable should have in his store.
Shot from a moving vehicle. Dont know anything about him. But America, why is coconut water so expensive out here? When its cheaper than bottled water in India? 2 for Rs 15. (Current exchange rate is 1$ == 62 Rs).
The guy you go to if you want to track down Telugu literature that your grandparents would recognize. He loves his books. He even published a book on ‘people who visit bookstores’, from his lifetime of observation. He gave me this book for free when i showed him his picture on my camera.
The sea food guy ! Mom goes here to get her sea food. They have a pipeline. One guy stands by the tank and picks out the fish of your choice from the water tank. This guy cleans it up. The next guy cuts it to your preference. And then, there is a guy who bags it for you.
But then, his neighbor calls out to me and doesn’t let me leave till i take his picture and answer all his questions. He even makes me take pictures of his customers. Note to self: Go back and give them their pictures, one day.
The death of ‘kirana’ stores. Now replaced by grocery stores. This one exists in the alleys that lead to Charminar. My friends make fun of me for being excited to spot this store. “Archana, dont be so white”, they say. But they are going extinct ! And no way to save them.
The bangle street adjoining Charminar, Hyderabad. One of the most beautiful sights in the night. “These photographers, dont know why they take pictures of all these” -an unknown vendor near Charminar.
